Downing Renewable Developments, a project development company owned by Downing, has now established itself in Sweden with the ambition to contribute to a more stable and sustainable electricity system through investments in solar, wind, and battery storage. With over 200 operational renewable energy projects across Europe and green infrastructure assets valued at SEK 13 billion, managed through Downing’s energy funds, the company offers both solid experience and strong investment capacity. Over the next five years, Downing Renewable Developments Sweden plans to develop more than 500 MW in Sweden.

Downing is a UK-based company with over 90 employees working in investment, project development, and management of renewable energy assets. The projects are financed by funds managed by Downing—with a focus on ethical investments and strong local engagement.

With a focus on solar, wind, and large-scale energy storage, Downing aims to contribute to a more robust energy system while creating local value. The company is also exploring hybrid solutions, such as combining solar with hydropower or battery storage at wind farms, to make more efficient use of existing infrastructure. This is also a way to quickly develop new projects, as Downing’s funds already own several hydropower and wind farms where hybrid solutions can be a strong alternative.

Downing is a British investment manager founded in 1986. With five offices in the UK and Europe, the company manages over SEK 25 billion in assets. Renewable energy is a central part of the strategy, and through Downing Renewable Developments, the company develops projects in solar, wind, and energy storage in Sweden, the UK, and Finland.
